Angel visits Mary & Joseph
Read:  Luke 1: 26-45, Matt 1:  18-25.

As was Jewish custom, two of three steps had taken place for Joseph and Mary to be married.  1.  The two families agreed to the marriage.  2. A public announcement was made and they were “pledged”.  Step three would be the marriage and living together.  Because step three had not taken place Mary’s pregnancy came with a huge social stigma.  So, what does Joseph plan to do?  Divorce her quietly and hopefully not cause too much disgrace.  But God had other plans!  God’s angel comes to Joseph and tells him not to be afraid to take Mary home as his wife.  She is conceived from the Holy Spirit.

The angel had told Mary also to not be afraid and troubled.  God is working His plan…the plan he made back in Genesis at the beginning of time.  For nothing is impossible with God.  (Luke 1: 37)

God is alive and working in you today as well.  What impossible things has he done in your life?

Prayer:  Thank and praise God for His plan of salvation and for all the impossible things he has made possible.
