Welcome: Welcome to Backyard Club! Thank you to ____________ for allowing us to come today! We’re glad you’re here!
I have a magnifying glass for each of you. What does a magnifying glass do? (yes! It makes things bigger!) Look through your magnifying glass and see something bigger. Here’s an example, I can look at a blade of grass through my magnifying glass. It’s still green, but it has lots of details I didn’t know about before! What can you see?
Allow time to look. (5 minutes)
What did you see? (allow time for kids to tell you)God is amazing! Yeah God! When you hear someone say “God is amazing!” you finish the saying by shouting “Yeah God!”
Let’s try it! God is amazing! YEAH GOD! God made some pretty amazing things, we talked about some of them a moment ago.
Have a seat on my blanket. Today we will learn how God made our world and us! Let’s listen!
Opening Words: God gives us the pleasure of knowing Him, our Creator. God created us from scratch. No one else is just like you! God doesn’t make mistakes and God doesn’t make yucky things. God is amazing! YEAH GOD!!!
Tell the Story: When I say, “It was evening and it was day”, you say “IT WAS GOOD!” Let’s practice: “It was evening and it was day” IT WAS GOOD!
Nice job! Let’s listen!
Leader: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. On the first day, God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light. God made day and night. It was evening and it was day. All: “It was good.” Leader: On the second day, God made sky and water. All: “It was good.” Leader: On the third day, God made dry land and separated it from the water. God made plants and trees. It was evening and it was day. All: “It was good.” Leader: On the fourth day, God made the sun, moon, and stars. It was evening and it was day. All: “It was good.” Leader: On the fifth day, God made fish and birds. It was evening and it was day. All: “It was good.” Leader: On the sixth day God made animals. It was evening and it was day. All: “It was good.” Leader: Also on the sixth day God made Adam in His image. It was evening and it was day. All: “It was very good.” Leader: On the seventh day God rested.
God is amazing! YEAH GOD!
God tells us in His Word: The earth make a circle with your arms over your head Is the Lord’s Point up And everything in it Spread arms out in front of you, palms up The world make a circle with your arms over your head And all who live in it point to everyone Psalm 24 Hold up2 fingers on one hand, 4 on the other hand Verse 1 Hold up1 finger
Let’s say it again! Repeat Psalm 24:1
Let’s Play a Game! It's called Clump Breakers Students will form groups based on the numbers the leader calls out. Use an open space.
When I call out a number, you will need to form groups of that size by connecting with others around you. For example, if I call out “five”, you’ll need to hook arms with four other people for a total of 5 people. Make sure you group isn’t too big or too small.
Call out various numbers and keep the game moving quickly. Make sure you include numbers that are impossible for everyone to find a place, like one more that the total number you have in your group.
Discussion Questions: What was it like to find a group quickly? What happened with you couldn’t find someone quickly?
We are all created in His image, whether we have brown hair or blonde, green eyes or not….we all belong to Him…we are part of His group all the time.
God is amazing! YEAH GOD!
Do you think you could create something from nothing? I can’t. But God did! Because….. God is amazing! YEAH GOD!
Let’s create something cool by combining some things together. Follow the directions I give you so we can make SLIME!!
