Magi Read: Matt 2: 1-12 Magi or wise men were following a star. They passed through Jerusalem in Judea…the seat of the government for Herod the Great. The Bible does not give us a clear answer why they were following a star. Maybe they were Jews. Maybe they were astrologers who studied ancient manuscripts and had copies of the Old Testament in their hands. Maybe they had a message from God directing them to the Messiah. Whatever their reason these men from faraway lands recognized Jesus as the Messiah, the One who they intended to worship.
Herod the Great calls these men to himself to question their actions and to verify from the chief priests and teachers where this Christ was to be born. After meeting with Herod, the Magi go on with their task. They follow to star to where the young child lay. What was their response? (Verse 10) They were overjoyed and offered their gifts of gold frankincense and myrrh. Like the Magi, those who are wise seek and worship Jesus for WHO HE IS. Do you seek and worship the King? What is your gift for the King?
Prayer: Thank God for WHO HE IS. Offer yourself to the King as your gift of worship.
